Dads Club

Play sessions for dads, granddads, step dads and their children from babies to 11 years
At Beane Valley Children’s Centre we believe that dads are important and welcome them to all our groups and activities. We also recognise that many dads are working or only see their children at weekends and cannot attend weekday sessions, so we run our Dads Club on Saturday mornings just for them. The sessions are run by one of our Family Workers and a volunteer (a dad himself) who will set out toys and craft activities and prepare those all important bacon sandwiches and a healthy snack for the children.
The sessions are very informal and give dads a chance to spend time playing with their children, meet other dads and pick up information and advice if they would like to. For some families, it gives mum a break too!
Research has shown that when dads and male carers are involved in their child’s life, the child is likely to:
- Do better at school
- Be more empathetic
- Be more self confident
- Be less gender stereotyped
- Build better adult relationships
And over and above the mother’s contribution, positive father - child engagement is associated with many desirable outcomes in children, adolescents and young adults including fewer behavioural problems, criminality and substance abuse.
All dads and male carers welcome.
1st Saturday of the month 10.00am - 12noon all year. No need to book (but phone to check if we are open at Bank Holidays)
Sessions are £2 per family.
In the Foundation Unit, Watton at Stone Primary and Nursery School
