what is a children’s centre?

Our Children’s Centre is one of 3500 across the country funded by the Government to provide support for children under 5 and their families. Every Children’s Centre is different and has been developed to suit the area it serves.

Beane Valley covers a large rural area of East Hertfordshire which includes many villages and hamlets. We have a small office and toy library room attached to Watton at Stone Primary and Nursery school as our base. To help us reach parents right across the area our outreach workers use village halls to run a variety of groups for children and their parents and carers.

Families need a variety of information, advice and services when their children are young and the Children’s Centre is a one stop shop to access these. Whatever you are looking for, we will try to help or put you in touch with someone else who can.

We have strong links with and can provide information on the following:

- Childcare

- Toddler Groups, Preschools and Schools

- Midwives and Health Visitors

- Access to work through local colleges and Jobcentre Plus

- Information on benefits and financial advice

- Parenting support through courses and one to one support

- Referral to specialist services

We also run lots of fun activities for you to enjoy with your children – explore our website to find out more.
